SANTORINI
Santorini church towers, Fira
The tour ended after breakfast in Athens and Pat and I took a taxi to the airport and flew to Santorini. Our hotel turned out to be very nice and we had some great views. We were not in a real populated area and we liked that. It was just the beginning of the tourist season.
After getting situated we took a hike to Imerovigli and had lunch. We then continued walking to Fira along the clifftop path where we had some great views of the water. We spent the day taking in the sights, going in a few shops and shooting some photos. We purchased a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers and went back to our hotel to enjoy happy hour on our balcony and watch the sun go down. It was a wonderful laid back day!

The next day we slept in a little and then went to enjoy our complimentary motel breakfast. We got to sit outside and enjoy the views while we enjoyed a tasty meal. After breakfast we took a cab to Oia and spent the day there appreciating the views, looking in the shops and again taking many pictures. I loved the white buildings and blue domes. We had a nice dinner there and then took a cab back to our hotel to enjoy another sunset!
Our next day in Santorini after breakfast, we spent sitting in the sun and reading. It felt good to just relax after our busy tour. A little later we walked to Fira again and hiked down a million steps (or so it seemed) to catch a boat to the active volcano and hot springs in the middle of the caldera. The boat ride was very nice and we saw lots of boats of all shapes and sizes including some gigantic cruise ships. After our boat ride we took the cable car back up and it was worth every penny! We then stopped and enjoyed a glass of wine and the views once again. We had seen an ad for a Mexican restaurant called Senor Zorba's and walked a long way to it. The person who waited on us was from Colorado so we had a nice chat with her while we sat at an outside table and took in the views. We met a couple from Australia there and had fun talking to them too as Pat and I had both been to Australia. If you can handle one more slide show click below to see Santorini!

The next day Pat and I flew back to Athens. We stayed at an airport hotel and flew out the next morning. We had had a perfect time in Greece and learned so much and met so many new friends! We both loved our trip to Greece!
As Nia Vardalos, writer and star of the movie, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" said, "In many ways we are all sons and daughters of ancient Greece." I like that!
If you would like to see Dogs on Tour, go there.
